WATER

WATER

Water infrastructure and supply are acutely vulnerable to climate change. Rainfall in Victoria is projected to decrease. A warmer, drier climate means less rainfall flowing from Victoria’s rivers and dams, putting more pressure on urban water supplies. How we use and conserve water will become more crucial in the future.

More extreme rainfall, movement and changes in groundwater and higher than average temperatures with lower average rainfall, will impact our water infrastructure. This will mean higher risks of water shortages and drainage and sewerage damage from stormwater flooding.

BUILDINGS

BUILDINGS

Foundation plays a critical role in ensuring the stability and safety of the building. The foundation must be designed to withstand the loads imposed on it by the structure, such as the weight of the building, the occupants, and any additional loads like furniture, wind or snow. The main purpose of providing foundation to a building is to distribute the weight of the structure on a sufficiently large area of the substratum.

Construction of basements for buildings can be very challenging if it is situated in CBD with underground services and tall buildings around the site. Temporary and permanent retention system is required to construct basements of buildings.

SOLAR FARMS

SOLAR FARMS

Australia is colloquially known as the sunburnt country, but it’s only really been in the last decade that we’ve truly decided to start harnessing the power of the sun for more than a Sunday BBQ, beach cricket or the unfortunate sunburn. How is that you may ask? Well, the answer is large-scale solar farms.

WIND FARMS

WIND FARMS

A wind farm is a group of wind turbines in the same location used to produce electricity. Wind farms vary in size from a small number of turbines to several hundred wind turbines covering an extensive area. Wind farms can be either onshore or offshore. Because they require no fuel, wind farms have less impact on the environment than many other forms of power generation and are often referred to as a good source of green energy.

Location is critical to the overall success of a wind farm. Additional conditions contributing to a successful wind farm location include wind conditions, access to electric transmission, physical access, and local electricity prices.

TRANSMISSION LINES

TRANSMISSION LINES

Rewiring the Nation is the Australian Government's program to make clean energy more accessible and affordable for Australian consumers. This program is investing $20 billion to modernise our electricity grid and deliver new and upgraded transmission infrastructure. The program is providing finance at concessional rates to minimise the costs of these investments, with the aim of lowering the cost of this essential infrastructure to consumers. Many of Australia’s legacy energy assets, like coal fired power stations, are increasingly unreliable and scheduled to close in coming years. Renewable energy is the lowest cost and lowest emission replacement for these assets.

The Rewiring the Nation program is investing in new transmission lines to deliver affordable, reliable renewable energy to cities, towns and regional communities. This will also help achieve Australia's emissions reduction targets of 43% by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT

URBAN DEVELOPMENT

Cities are defined by people. They are defined by the ways in which we live and work, move from place to place, and interact with each other. That is why - as we change - our cities need to adapt.

Vibrant cities evolve by addressing the changing and growing needs of the people they serve, and endure by retaining the characteristics that initially attracted people to them. In 2002, the Victorian Government released the metropolitan strategy, Melbourne 2030: Planning for Sustainable Growth, which established an Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) around Melbourne. The UGB was designed to:

  • Direct urban growth to areas where appropriate infrastructure and services can be supplied.
  • Protect valuable peri-urban land and environmental features from urban development pressures.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The performance of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Construction industry is driven by technological advances and the clamouring of households and businesses for the latest technology in telephony and data communications. Industry revenue had surged to unprecedented heights when the Federal Government committed to constructing the NBN network, Australia's largest infrastructure project. The effective completion of the NBN rollout in 2020-21 triggered a substantial drop in the construction of wired (or fixed) communication infrastructure. Still, some telecommunications contractors, including Ericsson and Service Stream, have derived substantial stimulus from significant telecommunications carriers rolling out their 4G LTE and 5G mobile telecommunications networks.

The performance of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Construction industry has slumped from the heady heights seen during the NBN rollout. The effective completion of the rollout in 2020-21 triggered a drop in industry activity despite the rollout of the 5G mobile network. The NBN rollout has effectively been completed.

In general, the value of Australia construction market is forecast to decline by 2.7% in real terms in 2024, having decreased by 0.4% in 2023. A key growth market will be the infrastructure market, with output rising by 3.8% in real terms. Here are few major hospital construction projects that have either recently commenced construction or have been completed.

The project involves the redevelopment of the Ryde Hospital campus into a state-of-the-art facility in Eastwood, New South Wales. Construction work started in Q3 2024 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2027. The project aims to increase the number of beds and provide a world-class healthcare experience for the local community.
